Ever in September,20011,an unexpected power outage in bluehost’s datacenter located in Utah has occurred , they don’t deal with this with a professional attitude ,this case ever has made numerous customers switch other reliable web hosting,such as hostgator,fatcow.
First of all, they did not inform their customers at all on the issue although it is so serious. Because all servers are down, that means all websites hosted are down! They said they do not have the ability to inform the customers because they don't have the electricity "power" to do so.
But what happened to the "UPS Power Backup" and the "Diesel Generator Backup Power" that is listed in hosting features? What happened to their "World Class" Technology?
I started to receive bunch of emails from customers asking me what's going on and I did not have a clue either. I checked my own site hosted by them and it was down too. I went to their website (both BlueHost and HostMonster) and they did't load up as well.
When they started to load up, it is extremely slow and many parts of the website were still broken, one of them was the helpdesk that looked like this.
The only way to reach them was using the chat support.
I accept the downtime. I accept that their diesel power generator is not functioning but I can hardly accept the way they handle the issue. It is so unprofessional. You really need to put in a lot of effort to make them tell you what is going on. When I asked them why the diesel generator was not functioning, they told me this:-
We certainly apologize for the inconvenience. The city which we are located in was working on a major issue near our building last night. The local power company requested that we shut off all electrical systems until the issue was resolved. This unfortunately included all backup power systems. We were fortunately able to shut down all systems so that all customer data is safe. After the servers were brought back online, there were multiple different issues with bringing them back up to regular status. Our administrators are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

If you decide to cancel please just let our billing department know and they will take care of you.
Do you know what this felt to me? It is like, yes we screw up, but who cares? If you don't like us, just ask for a refund and go away, we don't need you.

After the event, I wish I could receive an email from the management explaining what had happened but as expected, nothing, nada, nil ... even after one month... they pretend that nothing has happened.
I was always looking forward to their confirmation email from the department manager,but to my surprise,they never sended me any message again,altought I have waited for server month till now ,maybe they have treated it as an nonsense thing.
